Insurance 101 Buying Your Own Low-Cost, High-Quality Health Policy
Posted by: | CommentsHello there, this page is for people that need some extra help in understanding health insurance. My name is Jeff Lambson and I am a Utah/Wyoming licensed, independent agent for both life and health insurance. I will be the first to tell you that this country needs Health Reform. What happens in Congress with our health care is still up in the air. It will take some time to sift through all the paper work. Until then, you need to provide some protection for you and your family. My goal is to steer you in the right direction for your insurance needs. My recommendation is to follow the following list:
- Enroll with an experienced agent that offers all the major companies. It does not cost anything extra to go through an agent when buying insurance. Agents can be an advocate for you when needing claims processed.
- Always have catastrophic insurance coupled with an accident supplement. If you are fairly healthy, buy a high deductible plan and invest the difference into a HSA fund.
- Open and HSA account through your local bank. HSA’s are a great tax shelter for several reasons. (check my HSA page and learn more.)
- Make sure your plan is major medical. You should have at least 2 million in coverage.
